Solid colors are the best. Use pastels and earth tones for outdoor portraits.
Avoid bold patterns and bright colors as the draw the attention away from the
face. Long sleeve shirts and dresses are recommended. They draw attention from
the arms and focus it on the face. Coordinate your attire from head to toe, carefully selecting appropriate shoes
and socks, as we may use a full length pose. Darker clothing tends to minimize body size and light tones tend to emphasize
body size.
GIRLS:
If you wear bangs, make sure they do not cover your eyebrows. Be careful about
washing your hair just before your sitting, as you may have wet or fly away
hair. Do not change your hairstyle just before your portrait. Use a hairstyle
that you are comfortable with. Do not change your hairstyle just before your portrait. Use a hairstyle that
you are comfortable with. Simplicity is best. This applies to cosmetics, jewelry, hair and dress. Plain
medium to dark colors with long sleeves works the best. Sleeveless and light
colors add weight in photographs. Necklines are important. A vee neck blouse
is best if your neck is short and your face is full. A turtle neck or high
necked garment is more flattering if your neck is longer or your face is slender.
GUYS:
Do not get a haircut just before your sitting. Give it about a week so it looks
natural. If you shave, do it just before your sitting as the lightest stubble
cannot be retouched out. Trim your moustache or beard so that it is well
groomed.
MOMS:
Don’t worry about blemishes. Retouching handles the worst of them. Bring
along a couple changes of clothing. If you have a letter jackets, musical instrument
or the like bring it. Sweater, casual and formal jackets can enhance a portrait
sitting. Caps and gowns are available at the studio. EXPERIENCE THE DIFFERENCE!!
